Well, also to make NPC work, standalone server may be installed. So they will be act as players, but from insede Eve severs network. And if they will be have their own CPU - this mean less lags and more speed and complex AI.

Lag is not answer. Eve have cluster of servers. This clusters CAN amke univers looks Live. Like it was in X3 or in Freelancer. And in thouse games no lags at all... Eve universe must become place where NPC cargo ships easy to find. And Concord and...

My suggestion - just make bookmarks client side. Or install another Db only for bookmarks on another server. So when user request bookmark this action do not have affect on perfomance.
